Welcome to Calhoun High School!

The 2024-2025 school year marks my 24th year in education. I began my career teaching general music at Eastside Primary School in 2001. I was honored to be recognized as Calhoun Primary School and Calhoun City Schools’ Teacher of the Year for the 2010-2011 school year. It was also in 2010 that I was asked to move to Calhoun High School to serve as choral director and music director for the fine arts department. During my time as a choral director and musical theatre director, I was part of 8 region and 8 state championship wins and received a Shuler Award nomination.

I studied music at Mercer University (Go Bears!) where I earned my undergraduate degree in music education. I continued my education at Lincoln Memorial University where I earned both my Masters and Specialist degrees in Educational Leadership and Administration. I was a 2016 graduate of the Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Calhoun/Gordon County Program and I currently serve on the board of directors with the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce.

I transitioned into administration as an Instructional Coordinator at Calhoun Middle School and then served as one of the Assistant Principals at the Campus for four years. In both my roles as Instructional Coordinator and Assistant Principal, I coordinated many programs centered around professional development, SST/504 interventions, school-wide and state testing, scheduling, Hospital Homebound services, and PLCs. I also served as the Advanced Placement (AP) coordinator at CHS for four years. Growing up in a bilingual household, I am able to use my translating skills on a daily basis to better communicate with many of our parents and students. I served as principal at Calhoun Middle School from 2020-2021, where my leadership team focused on leading PLC and instructional efforts that brought increased student growth and achievement. This will mark my second year as principal at Calhoun High School where we continue educating the whole child as students embark on postsecondary journeys after graduation.

I enjoy using my musical talents as a member of the choir at First Baptist Church. My husband, John, is also in education and serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Floyd County Schools. We have a daughter named Maggie who is a 10th grader at Calhoun High School this year.

I am excited to continue the tradition of excellence at CHS! Go Jackets!
