Federal Assistance Program for Schools

Overview
Title I is the largest federal assistance program designed to ensure every child receives a high-quality education. These programs often feature smaller class sizes, additional teachers and assistants, enhanced training for school staff, extra instructional time, diverse teaching methods and materials, and counseling and mentoring services. Calhoun Primary is proud to be recognized as a Georgia Title I Distinguished School.

Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Title I, Part A; Title II A

Parents' Right to Know

In compliance with the requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), parents have the right to request the following information:

  • Whether the student’s teacher has met state qualifications and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction.

  • Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which state qualification or licensing criteria have been waived.

  • Whether the teacher is teaching in the field of discipline of their certification.

  • Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.

Annual Title I School Address

To learn more about Title I and your rights and responsibilities as a Title I parent, make plans to attend our annual Title I Address held in September/October. During this event, participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn more about their rights and responsibilities as Title I parents.

  • Hear about parent training and workshops.

  • Meet other parents and teachers.

  • Help open lines of communication and cooperation between home and school.
