CHS 2024-2025 TOTY | Calhoun High School is proud to announce that Mrs. Carol Gomez has been selected by her peers as the Teacher of the Year for 2024-2025. This school year marks Carol’s 15th year in education, and all with Calhoun City Schools. Mrs. Gomez currently teaches AP biology, dual enrollment biology, and honors biology. She is one of the Beta Club sponsors and is co-chair of the science department at CHS.
Mrs. Gomez holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from North Georgia College, a master’s degree in science from the University of Georgia, and a master’s degree in education from Berry College. She also holds a gifted endorsement. Carol is married to David Gomez and they have 3 children who graduated from Calhoun High School: Andrew Gomez, his wife, Kristin and grand daughter, Ava; Melissa Walker and husband, Elliot; and Rachel Gomez.
Carol’s peers shared the following: "Carol is a devoted science teacher at CHS who always strives for excellence. She works diligently on providing authentic lab experiences for students and prepares them for their post secondary endeavors. Her enthusiasm for science transfers to her students. Carol is dedicated and exhibits a combination of high standards and compassion for all students. he is a team player who is always willing to help others. Carol is an inspiration to others and is truly a lifetime learner and inspires her students to be lifelong learners as well. Her passion is magnetic and students sense it instantly. She loves her students, loves to teach, and she loves CHS!"
