Calhoun High School's Principal, Casey Parker, has announced that Vicky Chen has been named a Commended Student in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from both the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) will be presented to this academically talented senior.
Approximately 34,000 Commended Students across the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. While they won't proceed to the 2024 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, these Commended Students are among the top 50,000 students who entered the competition by taking the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
A spokesperson for NMSC commended the achievements of these students, stating, "Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success. Recognizing their accomplishments, along with the crucial role their schools play in their academic development, is vital for advancing educational excellence in our nation." CHS Principal Mrs. Parker added, "Being recognized on the National Merit Commended List is a testament to the dedication, excellence, and unwavering commitment of Ms. Chen. It's a reflection of her hard work and a stepping stone to a future filled with limitless possibilities. We are extremely proud of Vicky!" #ExcellenceInAcademics
