Calhoun High School senior Abby Kate Turner has been named the Calhoun College and Career Academy (CCCA) Student of the Week. She was nominated by her graphic design instructor, Ms. Greta Hughes. Abby Kate is a dedicated 4th-year graphic design student and is currently part of the work-based learning program with Calhoun City Schools' Communication Director, Kayla Ralston. She is known for her reliability and dedication in completing creative tasks.
Abby Kate is also actively involved with the Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) SkillsUSA, a partnership that promotes a skilled workforce in America. She has competed in the SkillsUSA Region Pin Design competition for three years, advancing to the state competition and achieving 4th place in both years. Additionally, she has been a valuable member of the CHS SkillsUSA Leadership team for three years.
In pursuit of her passion for graphic design, Abby Kate is taking graphic design dual enrollment classes and has already earned her Adobe Certified Associate in Photoshop and Illustrator. Her future plans include attending Georgia College and State University to pursue a bachelor's degree in art with a focus on graphic design, with aspirations to establish her own design business.
