Calhoun High School proudly celebrates a rare and notable tie for this prestigious honor, recognizing Caleb Riley and Elliot Stephens as this year’s Professional Association of Georgia Educators(PAGE) STAR Students. 🌟🐝🌟
Calhoun, GA — Kendra Arnold, Senior Counselor at Calhoun High School, is proud to announce that Caleb Riley and Elliot Stephens, both seniors at CHS, have been named 2025 PAGE STAR Students. A tie is allowed at the high school level when students achieve identical top SAT scores and rank within either the top 10 percent of their graduating class or among the top 10 students. In such cases, all qualifying students are recognized as STAR Students for their school, system, or region.
Caleb Riley, the son of Ben and Jessica Riley, earned this distinction through his exceptional academic performance and SAT scores. He selected Mrs. India Galyean, Chorus teacher at Calhoun High School, as his STAR Teacher. Caleb has been actively involved in CHS’s musical theatre program, numerous extracurricular activities, leadership roles, and work-based learning throughout his high school career. After graduation, Caleb plans to attend Lee University to double major in Music Education and Vocal Performance.
Elliot Stephens, the son of Ritchie Stephens and Dr. Keri Hogan, also earned this recognition for his academic excellence and SAT performance. He chose Mrs. Kelli DeGuire, an English teacher at Calhoun High School, as his STAR Teacher. During high school, Elliot served as the varsity swim team captain and actively participated in multiple extracurricular activities. He will be attending Georgia Tech, where he plans to major in Computer Science.
The Student Teacher Achievement Program (STAR) is sponsored, administered, and promoted by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Foundation. Since its inception in 1958, the program has recognized over 29,500 outstanding students and the teachers they credit for their academic success. To qualify, high school seniors must have the highest SAT score on a single test date and rank in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on GPA.
The STAR program begins at the high school level, where STAR Students select a STAR Teacher to share in the honor. Schools celebrate these students and their teachers with special recognition before advancing to system-wide competitions. System winners proceed to regional contests, and ultimately, regional winners vie for the title of State PAGE STAR Student. At every level, STAR Teachers continue alongside their STAR Students.
Calhoun City Schools congratulates Caleb Riley and Elliot Stephens on their incredible achievements and extends appreciation to Mrs. Galyean and Mrs. DeGuire for their outstanding mentorship.
