Calhoun, GA — Calhoun City Schools is proud to announce this year’s recipients of the 2025 Exemplary English Learner and Educator Awards: Mell Salinas Folleco, a senior at Calhoun High School, and Mrs. Cassey LeBoeuf, ESOL teacher at Calhoun Early Learning Academy.
Each year, the Georgia Department of Education’s English Learner Language Programs recognizes one exemplary English Learner student and one exemplary ESOL teacher as nominated by each school district or independent charter school in Georgia. In 2025, these honorees will receive a Certificate of Recognition signed by State School Superintendent Richard Woods.
Mell Salinas Folleco has made a lasting impact at Calhoun High School. Known for her strong work ethic and positive attitude, Mell has tackled a rigorous academic schedule with determination and grace. Teachers describe her as an inspiration—always willing to support her peers, assist teachers with translation, and serve others with kindness. Her resilience and leadership have left a meaningful mark on the school community.
Mrs. Cassey LeBoeuf, who serves ESOL students at the Calhoun Early Learning Academy, is praised by colleagues as a dedicated and selfless educator who consistently goes above and beyond. Whether supporting classroom instruction, mentoring fellow educators, or leading school initiatives, Mrs. LeBoeuf is a constant source of encouragement and guidance. Her efforts have significantly contributed to the success of young learners and the overall school environment.
