Six of our dedicated members attended the Fall Region 1 Rally, diving deep into the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) programs and shining in competitive events related to Family and Consumer Sciences. On Thursday, at the unofficial Region 7-AAA meet, Calhoun High School cross country won two trophies with a second-place finish from the boys and a third-place finish from the girls. The girls finished third after a second-place tie led to a tiebreaker decision. Senior Carolynn Dooley led the way and earned a medal with a second-place finish in a time of 21:15. Dylan Duke earned another medal with a 9th place finish. Giulianna Lopez, Debora Lopez, and Sara Elise Gallman all scored. Freshman Saira Mendoza ran her best race of the year. The boys were led by Demetrius Clavino who won the race in a time of 16:44. Xavier Hinojosa placed 7th and earned another medal. Leyver Mendez, Walker Hurd, and Joseph Jones all scored. Freshman Dayman Perez finished right behind them.
The Jackets will travel to White County on November 2nd to race in the GHSA 3A Sectional 2 Meet with a chance to compete for the official region title and qualify for the state meet in Carrollton. #SWARM #proudtobeayellowjacket
VETERANS DAY EARLY RELEASE REMINDER: On Monday, November 11, 2024, Calhoun City Schools will have an early release day to honor our veterans with a special Veterans Day Parade at 1:30 PM in downtown Calhoun. We invite everyone to join us as various student groups participate in this meaningful event to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have served our great nation.
