As part of their weather-themed studies, 6th-grade students at CES dove into a cool STEM project this week. The classes were on a mission to design and build houses that could take on a hurricane. Armed with materials like cardboard and duct tape and their imaginative ideas, students set out to create these structures, making sure each one had at least four windows crafted from aluminum foil and a functional living space inside.
An exciting twist to this project was the collaboration with CHS students from the CTAE construction pathway program. These older students lent their expertise to build sturdy wooden stands for testing the houses. The real excitement happened when the structures faced some severe tests, coming from the teachers and school Principals. Think hurricane-like winds from a leaf blower and simulated debris forces. This hands-on learning adventure is a display of our dedication to STEM education and innovative teaching methods. 🏠🌪️ #CCSHeroes #DiscoverTheHeroWithinYou #STEMeducation
