On Monday, May 20, the CCS Board of Education honored our outstanding FFA students and CTAE Ag instructor, Dr. Trish Williams, for their recent state-level achievements. To start the meeting, CES 5th grader and aspiring FFA leader, Camden Reynolds, opened the meeting by leading the pledge of allegiance and invocation. Here are the highlights from the 2024 State FFA Convention:

Agriscience State Finalists: These students completed research projects, wrote scientific papers, passed qualifying rounds, made posters, and presented their projects to judges.

🥇 State Champions (Power, Structural & Technical Systems, Division 6): Olivia Dodd & Wes Taylor

🥇 State Champions (Social Systems, Division 6): Kayla Ramirez & Naimah Nemorin

🥇 State Champions (Plant Systems, Division 4): Lowry Duggin & Grady Carter

🥇 State Runner-Up (Animal Systems, Division 5): Ben Williams

🏅 4th Place (Social Systems, Division 5): Gracie Russell

🏅 4th Place (Social Systems, Division 1): Brooke Williams

🏅 4th Place (Plant Systems, Division 6): Seth Naranjo & Chris Weaver

Supervised Agricultural Experience Projects and Proficiency Applications: These North Region Winners competed at the state level by keeping records, writing essays, taking pictures, and completing applications. They also interviewed at the State Convention, where only three finalists were chosen per category.

🥈 State Runner-Up (Proficiency - Turf Grass): Gabe Thomason

🌟 FFA Talent: Carolynn Dooley - Selected for FFA talent for the third year in a row.

🌾 Tagged to Teach Ag Workshop: After completing an essay and application, these students were chosen to participate in the TAG program - Olivia Dodd, James Allen, Brooke Williams (Only forty students were selected.)

👩‍🌾 National FFA Washington Leadership Conference: Ava Dobash - Awarded a scholarship and chosen to attend after completing an application, resume, and essay. She was one of 26 selected from across the state.

🏆 State FFA Degree Recipients: Based on their projects, activities, and community service, these students earned the highest degree awarded at the state level - Katie Reynolds, Gage Hammond, Gabe Thomason, Ben Williams

🗳️ State Convention Voting Delegates: These students represented the chapter and voted for one of our local FFA members from SHS as state secretary - Gracie Russell, Katie Reynolds, Carolynn Dooley, Kayla Ramirez, Seth Naranjo, Bailey Williams, Ava Dobash, Gabe Thomason

🌟 State FFA Convention Ambassador: Katie Reynolds - Selected for the third year as an ambassador after completing an essay and application.

🤝 State FFA Convention Courtesy Corp: These students volunteered at the state level, helping with proficiency interviews and judges - Olivia Dodd, Grady Carter, Lowry Duggin, Chris Weaver, Seth Naranjo, Bailey Williams, Brooke Williams, Ben Williams, James Allen, Carolynn Dooley, Gracie Russell, Kayla Ramirez, Naimah Nemorin, Wes Taylor
