Calhoun, GA – On Tuesday, October 22, Calhoun City Schools proudly hosted the Junior Community Leadership Academy for Student Success (CLASS Jr.) session at the Central Office. The program is designed to foster leadership and community engagement among students and began with engaging discussions and interactive activities led by Superintendent Dr. Michele Taylor, along with Assistant Superintendents Dr. Peter Coombe and Dr. Jaime Garrett.

CLASS Jr. is an initiative aimed at developing the next generation of leaders by offering enrichment opportunities for students in grades 5-6. Throughout the 2024-2025 school year, participants will engage in sessions emphasizing leadership skills, public speaking, professionalism, and school pride. The program runs monthly from October 2024 through April 2025, providing students with hands-on learning experiences to build lifelong leadership skills while learning about the many opportunities in our schools and the community.

"We believe that empowering our students to develop leadership skills will strengthen not only their future but also our school community," said Dr. Taylor. "CLASS Jr. is a fantastic opportunity for students to grow and learn about the many paths to success within academics, arts, and athletics."

The program's requirements include maintaining positive behavior and grades, actively participating in each session, and demonstrating a commitment to personal growth. With a curriculum that integrates real-world skills and a focus on community involvement, CLASS Jr. promises to be a transformative experience for all participants.

Calhoun City Schools looks forward to supporting these future leaders as they embark on this exciting journey toward excellence.
