Tonight's October Board Meeting began with the Kindergarten Gray Elephants from Ms. Nesbitt's class leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance and sharing their 'good things' to kick off the night.
Superintendent Dr. Michele Taylor proudly recognized our Board of Education for being named a 2024 Exemplary Board by the Georgia School Boards Association once again—a true testament to their dedication to our district!
The Board also celebrated our talented 2024 Red Ribbon Week poster winners: McKenzie Walraven (CPS), Yuliza Vicente (CES), Abby Anderson (CMS), & Erick Jaramillo (CHS). These students' creativity and spirit help inspire a drug-free community!
A special moment was shared honoring Coach Diane Ralston-Smith for her 52 years of service with Calhoun City Schools, including 39 years as head softball coach at CHS. Coach Smith, the winningest coach in school history and for softball in the state of Georgia, has left a legacy that will echo for generations. We wish her the happiest retirement—her impact on our students, athletes, and community is truly immeasurable.
Thank you to our BOE for always celebrating the excellence of our students and staff. United We Stand, Together We Swarm!
