Community Update - Lockdown Explanation:
On Thursday, April 18, at approximately 2:20PM a local resident, adjacent to CPS/CES, was attempting to kill a snake in their own backyard using a firearm. The sound of gunfire caused obvious alarm, resulting in a school-wide lockdown. Calhoun Police, partnered with other local agencies, had a swift and immediate response to the event and are currently addressing the actions of the individual. At this time, the school is on a regular dismissal and there is no threat to student safety. We thank our school officials and local law enforcement for their constant support of our students.

Alert: CCS Bus 2 Update: The road entering Amakanata neighborhood is closed due to a spill. Students on bus 2 residing in Amakanata have been taken back to the Complex (CPS/CES). Parents are requested to pick up their children at the CPS main entrance at their earliest convenience. Students from CMS/CHS are contacting their parents to inform them, as they have not been collected from the Campus yet.

Earlier this month, the Rota Kids group from Calhoun Elementary School worked with many community volunteers to label trees for the Arbor Day Free Tree Giveaway. They also received a compost bin from Sonoraville High School students, which will be used to compost materials in the school gardens at the CPES Complex.
