Thank you to Evco Plastics for their recent generous financial donation to the Calhoun College & Career Academy's Engineering & Technology Program. Evco Plastics demonstrates strong engagement and support for the engineering program and other career academy initiatives. Their support enables the program to broaden its reach, fostering partnerships with local manufacturing companies to enrich student workforce opportunities. Mr. Ruben Reyes, Plant Manager, and Mrs. Dawn Wiley, SR Human Resources Generalist, are pictured with Engineering Program teacher Mrs. Kimberly Jones, College & Career Programs Director Dr. Brandi Hayes, as well as two senior interns who are currently working at Evco, John Ross and Athens Hudson.
In November 2023, Evco hosted the Calhoun City Schools System Leadership group for an onsite overview and tour. Forty leaders from Calhoun City Schools had the opportunity to visit and learn about economic and workforce development opportunities for students available through Evco Plastics. Over the years, Evco has employed numerous Work-Based Learning students and allowed teachers to come in for Teacher Externships. Currently, two seniors from Calhoun High School are working as paid student interns in the Engineering and Maintenance departments at Evco. Additionally, Dawn Wiley and Derrick Hannah serve on the Workforce Advisory Committee for the Engineering program at Calhoun High School. They attend meetings, provide feedback for program growth and improvement, and have volunteered to have staff members come into the Engineering classroom to help with demonstrations and provide examples of how to use specific equipment.
We sincerely thank Evco Plastics for their support of our College & Career Academy's Engineering & Technology Program and their invaluable partnership with Calhoun City Schools! #CTAEDelievers #CCSHeroes #PartnersInEducation
