emt students in class

Calhoun City Schools empowers superheroes with career pathway opportunities for all students. The Calhoun College and Career Academy spans grades Pre-K through 12 as students grow their personal and professional skills and prepare for college and career.

One such opportunity is the newly adopted Emergency Medical Services pathway, available in grades 9-12. This exploratory program develops the healthcare skills necessary to pursue a career in the medical field as an Emergency Medical Technician and healthcare professional.

Calhoun graduate, and former EMT, Phillip Parker, has assumed the role of instructor for this course and brings a wealth of real-world experience to the classroom. Mr. Parker has worked extensively this summer to become a certified instructor of the EMS program and is proud to give back to the school system that grew him into both a healthcare and education superhero.
