Tonight’s Board of Education meeting began with Calhoun Elementary School's cross country runners leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by Banks Layson delivering a thoughtful invocation and the group sharing 'good things'. It was a wonderful way to set the tone for recognizing several outstanding achievements across our district.
Carter Sutton and Katherine Castillo Alarcon were honored as our 2024 REACH Scholarship recipients. It was an inspiring moment made even more special with the support of veteran REACH scholars and peers who attended to cheer them on as they begin this journey full of possibilities.
Assistant Superintendent and CFO Dee Wrisley was also recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting, earning the highest honor for her work on the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). Her commitment to maintaining the district’s financial integrity is truly commendable, and we are proud of her accomplishments.
We also celebrated Calhoun Elementary School's cross country teams for their recent success at the Trion Cross Country Meet. Both the teams and individual medalists delivered impressive performances, showing once again the dedication and talent of our student-athletes.
Additionally, the 2025-2026 school calendar was officially approved. We sincerely appreciate your feedback—your voices were heard. The approved calendar is now available at https://www.calhounschools.org/page/school-information.
We are incredibly proud of our students, staff, and community members who continue to demonstrate excellence in all areas!
