CELA 2024-2025 TOTY | Calhoun Early Learning Academy is proud to announce that Mrs. Angela Irwin has been selected by her peers as the Teacher of the Year for 2024-2025. This school year marks Angela’s 29th year in education and this is her 7th year with Calhoun City Schools. Mrs. Irwin currently teaches kindergarten.
Mrs. Irwin holds a masters degree in elementary education from Lincoln Memorial University. She also holds an ESOL and reading endorsement. Angela is married to Mark Irwin and she has three adult children (Jonathon, Andrew, and Ariel Davis) and six grandchildren.
Angela’s peers shared the following: Angela is an extraordinary teacher. She makes a huge impact on all of her students and the staff that work with and around her. She uses every opportunity to teach and makes every single child in her classroom feel important and brilliant, no matter their level, behavior, or ability. Mrs. Irwin manages her class so well, keeping all students engaged and curious. She does this while meeting the needs of all of her students. She uses creative teaching techniques so that all students can participate in lessons and activities. Angela teaches with love and compassion. Her students recognize this and love her back. The smile that she wears each and every day shows her heart and passion for the work that she does. Teaching is her mission, her calling, and her gift. You can tell that Mrs. Irwin absolutely loves her job and goes above and beyond for her students. She is an amazing teacher and Calhoun Early Learning Academy is lucky to have her.
